Peer Mentoring

About the Peer Mentoring Service

The peer mentor service, led by The Whitechapel Centre, works alongside other Waves of Hope services giving clients the chance to develop a recovery journey through one-to-one support from others that have experienced and overcome similar problems to themselves.

A Peer Mentor can inspire and motivate clients, by using their own personal experiences to help and advise someone who is going through similar issues themselves.

Wave of Hope peer mentors undertake accredited training and receive regular supervision and support. They are trained to help empower clients using a person-centred approach.  As well as the training they have received, peer mentors use their experiences to listen to clients and help them to explore options and arrive at their own decisions.

A peer mentor can help increase a client’s sense of confidence and wellbeing, support them to become more independent and increase recovery.
