Homeless Link – Community of Practice Event

The Community of Practice is a quarterly event facilitated by Homeless Link for frontline workers across the Liverpool City Region. The aim is to give those working directly with people affected by homelessness the chance to build relationships, support each other, share good practice, and develop solutions to common problems.

This is a space for you as frontline workers to develop your own practice, so the conversation and topics go where they want it too. In Merseyside, the first few focused on welfare reform; culminating in a joint session with Job Centre work coaches last October. We’ve since launched a separate DWP Homelessness Forum to keep the channels of communication with Work Coaches open and hopefully create more.

In the March session the group took a step back to consider efforts to end homelessness in the region more generally and partnership working between voluntary sector agencies in particular. A number of areas where we felt we could have an impact cropped up, including usage of the Mainstay referral gateway across the frontline. This will be the focus of the next Community of Practice in June.

All Waves of Hope staff and volunteers are welcome to join and share amongst your networks with anyone who may be interested. Keep an eye out on the Homeless Link events page or follow @HomelessCoPs on twitter!
